Thomas To be clear i think the guys at ocd are great helpful and friendly this has nothing to do with them as a company but i think its important to let others know my experience with the tunes i bought.
i have other friends that use ccs tuning with no issues and are very happy.
for context, i have owned over 15 tuned and deleted trucks of all types, as well as bmws diesels etc i have experience with them i work on them all the time. i do not beat on my truck i have a c5 corvette and a 335 bmw i do that with. i also believe in fafo. so i am not whining about my issue i should have known better.
i installed the tunes on the truck and worked as intended 75 hp tune was very smokey and the idle fueling was brutal couldnt stand within 20 ft of the truck it would burn your eyes. all my diesels are straight piped with no cats i know they always smell this was really excessive. when i emailed ocd to tell them about the crazy smoke they instructed me to check my air filter...(brand new high flow air filter 2 weeks old in the truck) and turn the truck to stock level. why do you pay for a tune pack if they are not usable but ok. i went away for 3 weeks, came back to canada and forgot to swap my tune before the 30 days so i had to buy full support package. again my fault. drove on lower tune for a week and decided to try another tune. installed the 90 hp tune drove 30 km to meet a friend with the same truck same exhaust, hes been running amdp tunes for almost a year no issues. the idle fueling on his way better and 10% of the smell of mine. on the way home driving up a decent size that was around a km long melted piston 3.
my truck has been 90% highway km and maintained to the max oil changes with motul oil every7000km. never burned a drop of oil and ran perfect.
im not blaming them and this isnt ocd fault but when you add it all up i dont think i can recommend ccs tunes for the 3.0 powerstroke , i have a friend that loves their 6.7 powerstroke tunes they seem very good. i now have basically $1000 into these tunes, i dont think ill be using going forward, for those wondering an engine job is roughly 13 to 15k if you do it right.
